I am Basil wainwrights sister and I am very upset when I read all of the things said about Basil. It is quite disturbing. I have not seen my brother for 20 years or more. Even at that time he had an amazing personality and was able to influence people. I know my poor old Dad (who was a very brilliant man) got Basil out of trouble many times when he was a young man. One account of his wrong doings sticks in my mind until this day and that is, Basil was able to go around people our family knew and sell jeeps to them (only on paper only) getting the money for them but of course never delivering them. I am sure that cost my Dad thousands of English pounds.
Yes, Basil was born in Swindon, Wiltshire in England along with two sisters and one other brother. All of us turned into very good citizens and I cannot understand my brother doing such terrible things to people.
Our Mom worshipped the ground he walked on and Basil was by far the favorite in the family.
To everyone that Basil has harmed I am genuinely sorry. I can't help but wonder where he is now. His first wife, daughter and grandchildren still live in England.
I live in American and have just lost my son who I named after my brother, thats how much I loved Basil.
I hope that Brother Basil will one day find the courage to face up to all the wrong things he has done. In the mean time I can only say how very sorry I am for everyone that was touched but his charm and lost thier money.
